Diamond Extracts, Everybody’s Best Friend

It’s not just girls, you know.  Yes, that old saying may be true, but today’s diamond extracts are for everyone.

The jewel variety is extracted from the ground after millennia of coal compression.  But the diamonds we’re talking about are extracted from cannabis plants, and you don’t wear them.  Yet, compression does play a part in their creation, except it doesn’t take millennia.

Diamond extracts are the crystals taken from a cannabis plant’s live resin using a cold-extraction method.  This cannabis plant resin is then compressed until it forms those crystals.  These diamonds are the crystalline structure of pure THCA, which is converted into the psychoactive THC form after heating.

Cannabis plants produce hundreds of cannabinoids, chemical compounds that can produce both therapeutic and psychoactive effects.  But, only a few of those compounds actually produce the high enthusiasts seek.  The most well-known and sought after of them is THC.

THCA

However, the most prevalent compound produced by cannabis plants is THCA.  You don’t need to know this to get high, and there won’t be a test on this material, but the technical names are delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA).  THCA is an inactive compound and has no intoxicating effects until its heated as mentioned before.

However, it is believed to offer a wide variety of medicinal benefits and is considered by some to be a superfood.  It is juiced or added to smoothies, along with kale, green tea, and other foodstuffs as a good source of antioxidants and as a treatment for an assortment of ailments like arthritis and chronic pain.

The Process

For the cannabis enthusiast, though, the main use of THCA is as the source of THC.  How, you might ask, with heat and light.  Heat removes the acid from THCA, changes its chemical structure, and converts it to THC in the process.

Additionally, light from the sun will convert THCA to THC – sun dried cannabis, if you will.  The chemical structure is also affected by sunlight, and even by being stored at room temperature for an extended period of time, but the process is much slower.

In short, THCA is a bit unstable and will convert to THC in natural ways.  The commercial viability of these natural ways is less desirable, though, because of time, and in business time equals money.

That gets us to the availability of commercially converted products such as diamonds.  These diamonds are highly concentrated and very potent, reaching a THC content of 80% to 99%.

In Canada, you can source both retail and wholesale diamonds easily from Buzzed Extracts.  For bulk purchases, they offer a variety of lab-tested diamonds in a number of incremental sizes, and you will find them here.

And, for the retail enthusiast, you can choose from a variety of products, including “Ice Cream Cake” and “Cookies & Cream”, which you will find here in their Diamond Caviar section.

Easy checkout process, quick shipping upon receipt of payment, all from the comfort of your home.  Just remember:  Diamonds need to be vaped or combusted and stored in a dark container.  And, as always, use responsibly.
